Named after my dad.

Wayne is my dad's middle name. He never worked in finance, never managed anyone's portfolio, and never once used the word “fintech.” But what he did do — every month, without fail — was sit down and take care of the money.

My parents were married in the summer of 1969. Dad worked in a grocery store, putting himself through school. Money was so tight that for a while they split bags of broken beans with another couple — the bags the store sells cheap because nobody else wants them. Needless to say: they were broke.

So he did what anyone in his situation could do — he budgeted to the penny. I grew up watching him at the kitchen table with a legal pad and a checkbook, balancing everything. Nothing missing. Ever.

That habit — knowing where every dollar was, and being honest about it — is the whole idea behind this app. It's not about the charts. It's not about the AI. It's not even about the integrations. It's about looking your money in the eye, made easier with modern tools.

It's why budgets here score “under par” instead of nagging you — a budget shouldn't feel like homework. It should feel like winning. And it's not just about finding out where you are. It's about finding out where you want to be. Dad's in a different place than he used to be. You can be, too.

And it never stopped at our kitchen table. Dad spent significant amounts of time helping other people budget — individuals who felt stuck, couples, whole groups. Passing on hope was important to him, because a budget was never really about the money. It was about believing your situation could change. That is something worth giving.

One more thing. The coach inside this app is named George — and that's not a coincidence. To our family, my dad goes by George. So when George looks over your week and tells you the truth kindly, you're getting the closest thing I could build to a seat at that kitchen table.

He gave us something worth passing down — that's how I got it, and it's why there's a version for kids in here. The whole app carries his name because if it helps your family the way his kitchen-table budget helped ours, it's earned it.
